Apparently, not only Indonesia has a problem with pirated films, developed countries like the UK confused the issue of pirated movies.

The number of pirated movies in England that are downloaded over the Internet rose nearly 30 percent in five years. Research by the Internet consulting firm, Envisional, revealed that the five top box office movies illegally downloaded up to 1.4 million times last year.

Film industry bosses said that film piracy caused losses of around 170 million pounds each year and create thousands of workers at risk. The study also showed a lot of pirated TV shows online.

Dr David Price, who led the research said there were four main reasons why illegal movie piracy increasing in the UK.

“We’re seeing an increase in broadband technology faster, easier method of hijacking the process of downloading faster and faster the process of finding content,” he said.

“Currently, we have an online generation who do not care to download movies legally.

“Finally, this issue availability of content, there are a lot of American content that makes people desperate to download, that they can not gain legitimacy,” he said.

One of the people who do illegal things is Steve (25) from Essex, he said the film industry is the biggest threat to the success and future. He illegally download and upload about 10 movies per week.

“I think compared with the money they make, it’s like a drop in the ocean,” he said.

Employment

But the film industry bosses do not respond to the expression. Kieron Sharp worked for the Federation Against Copyright Theft or FACT.

“Research shows that piracy hurt the film industry about half a billion pounds per year, about a third film and TV content,” he said.

“Absolutely unacceptable,” he said.

Great Demand

But not just any pirated movies increased, the research showed people illegally downloading TV shows are also great. The five most popular events in the UK illegally downloaded as many as 1.24 million times in the past year. Figures TV piracy increased 33 percent from 2006.

“We get a huge demand for North American TV show,” said Dr.. Price.

“As the Glee and House, which a lot of TV shows downloaded illegally in the UK. We really want to get television shows such as where they get the broadcast in the United States,” he said.

“But we have to wait a month or two to see the show performed legally in the UK,” he said.

“So people will naturally turn to the Internet to get content faster.”

As a solution, Dr. Price says, “One of the best ideas for content producers they need to compete with piracy and they should get the content out there easily, quickly and cheaply as possible.”

“Also, what I can do is provide people jobs, with the ISP facility that provides super-fast broadband is the potential to create jobs,” said Dr. Price told Reuters from the BBC.
